What's New From Matthew Cookson

Matthew Cookson moved to Paris in the early 1990's. He has been involved in numerous ventures in the world of menswear and associated with a number of brands. Matthew was previously working under the name Shipton & Heneage but he has taken the business into a new direction with the branding of Matthew Cookson over the past three years. It was rather charming to finally meet the man, as we had spoken on the phone and emailed one another on dozens of occasions but never had we met face to face. I was in Paris a few weeks ago and I spent the first day of my tour working on the stock of bow ties that we have in the store and preparing them for the SALE which goes until the end of this month. It was such a splendid day in Paris, too good to be tying bow ties but all the better to keep company with someone who has been instrumental in putting the slipper back on the map. Matthew has been going from strength to strength, with the demand for slippers beginning to take traction as people search for alternatives to loafers. At the same time, this European summer season Matthew has developed a very interesting set of canvas and suede loafers which are visually very bright and eye catching. If you are in Paris, drop into 11 Boulevard Raspail in the 7th arrondisement, just down the road from Le Bon Marche.
